(New Opportunities for Vocational Advancement)

The NOVA program was started in January 1997. NOVA, (New Opportunities for Vocational Advancement), was designed as a day program for individuals who are not quite ready for the STEP program but still enjoy access to the community for social, recreational, community safety and vocational training.
  • A site and community based day program serving 25 individuals ages 22 and older.
  • Dedicated to providing social and recreational experiences.
  • Committed to social and interpersonal skill development.
  • A strong behavioral component emphasizing a reduction of maladapted conduct.
  • Focuses on job readiness skills.
  • Limited amount of paid work activity.
  • Prepares select individuals for advanced work environments.
  • Low client to staff ratio.
  • Funded by the Department of Developmental Services via the Golden Gate Regional Center system.
